The article is dedicated to the memory of A. I. Rakushin (1971–2025), Candidate of Historical Sciences, archaeologist, and one of the leading specialists in the history and archaeology of medieval nomads of the Lower Volga region. It outlines the main stages of his scholarly career, his research interests, and his contribution to the study of the Golden Horde period. Special attention is given to his works on funerary practices, the Islamization of nomadic populations, material culture, and source studies. The significance of his monographs and field investigations for contemporary medieval studies and the archaeology of Eastern Europe is emphasized.
