Experience of Patriotic Hermeneutics. — The article treats peculiarities of Russia’s genotype formation. The topic is disclosed in the hermeneutic aspect (Anaksimandr-Heidegger). Answering the question put in the famous Russian song: «What does homeland begin with?», the author states that the homeland begins with the situation it finished before for its numerous citizens, i.e. catastrophe. There is given a definition of bimodal structure for cultural genotype in Russian history which means constant balancing between incompatible values and opposite cultural guidelines. Bimodality is a source of constant potential catastrophe delivering and annihilating cultural organisms of another Russia, making linear translation of ideas impossible. Russia is an adolescent country staying in the condition of eternal and unovercomable perturbation age, a country without dimensions and consequently without a shape. It is opposed by an eternal child of the West and eternal old man of the East. Sources for unconscious fear of this part of space in the West and East are buried in Russia’s unpredictability and shapelessness , its semantic amorphousness, undefinability, impossibility to treat it as something familiar. Children’s and old people’s unconscious fear of adolescents is not incidental. There is established a link between catastrophes and bimodality of Russian history, ambivalent nature of ancient Scythia. The ancient nature of modern problems and archeological nature of the topic give a clearer understanding of specifics of the periodical situation of choice between West and East in the history of Russia, enable us to capture importation of cultural innovations.
