This paper is a critical response to K. N. Gavroliv’s article published in “Stratum plus” in 2015 and devoted to the interpretation of dwellings of the Anosovo-Mesin type. The study of the Anosovo-Mezin type dwellings was one of the merits of the past generation of researchers. However, according to K. N. Gavrilov, in fact they excavated not dwellings but cult places, traditionally and mistakenly considering them as dwellings. Unfortunately, K. N. Gavrilov’s conclusions are based on weak grounds and raise serious doubts.
