Metal vertical-plate helmets appear in Xianbei and Sargat cultures at the turn of ages. Helmets originating from the territory of the European Barbaricum were typically riveted and vertical-plate with framework, while thronged helmets dominated in the east. The process of development of European and Asian vertical-plate helmets, however, was certainly interconnected.
