This article focuses on influence of different forms of government on development of secessionist conflicts. The region under study is South-Eastern Europe. The author examines the experience of different forms of government in the region trying to reveal their role in the emergence of secessionist conflicts. The analysis shows that the form of government was not the main factor of the emergence of such conflicts, nor it was a panacea for them.
