In the absence of specific, direct indications of written and archaeological sources about the time of construction of the medieval citadel of the Belgorod-Dnestrovsk Fortress, the presence of four artillery positions in one of its towers presents new evidence in the process of dating of the building. The artillery came to Moldova in the epoch of Alexander cel Bun (the Good). The Belgorod Castle was built on his initiative in the period from 1414 to 1420, and the main reason of its construction was the threat of impending war with the Turks.

Keywords: Belgorod-Dniestrovsk fotress, medieval gunshot artillery, Moldova in the time of Alexander cel Bun (the Good)
