This article is dedicated to an understudied issue: preservation of the Rusins’ identity by the population of Galicia, Sub-Carpathian Rus’, Bukovina and Bessarabia. A brief history of the Rusins is presented. Special attention is given to the struggle of the Rusins for their national identity during the mid-19th – 20th centuries and up to the modern period of the Rusins’ revival.
