The article attempts to interpret the contents of a very important written source of late 14th c. – entries from a Genovese register of Massaria from Kaffa, dated by May 2, 1386. The source mentions Petru as the Ruler of Moldavian Princedom as well as somebody named Constantine as his peer. The author concludes that the medieval state of Moldavia was formed by unification of three, rather than two (as it was thought previously) separate territories – Ţara de Sus, Ţara de Jos and the Seaside area (Black Sea), with Belgorod (modern Belgorod-Dniestrovsky) as an important central town-port in the latter.  In the author’s opinion, this mysterious Constantine might have been the ruler of Belgorod.
