The classical ancient coin finds make part of records necessary for a study of history of the Getian tribes in the forest-steppe Moldova. Having studied all known finds in the region from the point of view of the period of their emission we established that they all were issued between 360-330 c. B.C. These are mainly Histrian silver drachms and Phillip II’s tetra-drachms. Among the unique finds there is a golden stater of Alexander III and coins of Tyra and Panticapaeum of the autonomous period.
This does not contradict the point of view that the Getians of the region were eliminated by the Scythians in connection with the events of 331/330 B.C. – the time of Zopyrion’s campaign against the Scythians.
