The paper brings a brief survey of archaeology in the Czech Republic at the turn of the 20th century. It contains a set of information on the system through which sites and monuments in this country have been recorded, on the protection of this archaeological sites — both legislative and practical, on the system archaeological bodies in the country and also on the application of landscape projects. The non-destructivity principle of survey methods such as aerial reconnaissance or fieldwalking has been considered an important trend in recent developments of archaeological fieldwork. It has been noted that most of the archaeological institutes are focused on rescue and contract archaeology as a consequence of a boom in the construction and building activities since the beginning of the 1990.
