The article addresses the results of excavations of barrow no. 1 (1990) of the Timerevo barrow necropolis. The Timerevo archaeological complex near contemporary Yaroslavl dates to the early Middle Ages and is regarded as a well-known complex in Russian and foreign literature. The article examines the composition of the grave goods, which is distinguished by the finds of rare and unusual objects. Of particular interest are the carnelian and rock crystal beads included in it. Rare finds in Russia are single-shell Scandinavian fibulae. Unique is the iron knife inlaid with gold. Using the example of this complex, the question of the meaning of “fibula” chronology and “bead” chronology in determining the date of the site is discussed.
