A very special pair of horn cheek-pieces was found among other grave artifacts during the excavation of single burial 1 of barrow 6 of the Uren I burial ground in 1988. In 2017, we got a chance to make a trace evidence analysis of these cheekpieces. The paper presents all the trace evidence that suggests that the artisan, when making Uren cheek-pieces, was going through experiments: he tried to do something different from commonly accepted forms and deliberately made cheek-pieces so different in appearance by mixing Eastern and Western manufacturing techniques.
