The article offers a solution that removes the contradiction between the Sinoptics and the fourth Gospel, pertaining to the date of the Mystical Supper. The solution is based on data that are present in the book of Daniel. At the same time, an original interpretation of the book of Daniel itself is given. Also, a hypothesis relating to etymology of the term Essenes is suggested. Finally, the article shows common links between the book of Daniel, Qumran scrolls and the canonical Gospels, elucidating provenance of the Qumran community.
