In this article, we consider questions of the environment of the Left Bank Dnepr in the 1th A.D. We suggest a simplified classification of soils to characterize potential resource zones of settlements. We have considered distribution and relative location of the Slavic settlements of the second half of the 1th A.D. on regional, microregional, and local levels. We have shown connections between the basics elements of the agriculture.
