The article is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the famous Ukrainian archaeologist, historian, ethnographer I. Vinokur. The study provides a brief biography of the scientist, as well as an analysis of the scientific heritage, which gave grounds to assert that his main merit lies in substantiating the continuity of the historical development of Ukraine in the period from the turn of the new era to the 12th-13th centuries.
