The paper provides a multilateral characteristic of the Lower Complex of the Palaeolithic site of Podzvonkaya site, situated in the south of Western Transbaikal, Russia. The description and analysis of the Podzvonkaya materials show that they date to the earliest stage of the Upper Palaeolithic in the region. The fact that the industry of Podzvonkaya retains numerous traits typical of the Middle Palaeoithic permits to characterize it as transitional from the Middle to the Upper Palaeolithic.
