The paper presents some results of geochemical studies of flints coming from different natural occurrences and different Upper Palaeolithic sites of the Russian Plain. The main objective is to determine the sourse area where the Kostenki culture flints come from. The available evidence suggests that flints of Kostenki 1 might have come from an area on the right bank of the Don, west of Kostenki.
