The paper provides a brief coverage of formation and development of the main concept associated with the Trans-Ural Neolithic, during over a century. The paper focuses on the studies related to the southern Trans-Urals. To illustrate and solve some current issues, the author publishes all Neolithic materials from the eponymous site Chebarkul I. They formed the basis of the historiographical corpus and the cultural and historical concept of the region.
