Analysis of finds assemblage from Tyras has enabled us to identify and group a set of items dating back to 1st century AD. Here we publish wares of both Western Roman origin and those which can be conventionally attributed to Western Rome. These include innumerous finds of fragments of Lamboglia 2B amphorae fragments manufactured in workshops of North Adriatic, Italic and Gallic Terra sigillata. Among the rare finds, there is a fragment of a rouchcasting cup. Coins are presented by big coppers. Glassware comprises glasses with inscriptions, massive Rippenschalle cups, millefiori vessels. Bone tesserae with Greek and Latin digital bilingual inscription XII/IB can be of Italic production. One can point out, among fibulae, an arclike fastener, possibly derived from the “Aucissa” type. To Italic items belongs a metal lamp with three spouts and two side lugs to attach them to candelabra. Ceramic lamps comprise a group of lamps with volute on spouts and extension in the form of a raised leaf or a triangle application decorated with palmette.
Study of the above mentioned materials, as well as the peculiarities of historical situation, enable us to consider the matter of possible early presence of the Roman troops in Tyras as early as mid-1st century AD. In the end of the century, Italic import disappears from the city practically completely, giving place to different provincial commodities. Some matters of Roman troops appearing in Tyras, as well as Roman-Barbarian contacts in the North-Western Black Sea region in the 1st Century AD have been considered.
