In 2014, we continued investigations of the Tripolye BII settlement near the village of Nebelevka. According to the geomagnetic plot, its area is about 260 ha. The excavations checked three types of archaeological complexes from the geomagnetic plan: traces of ditches enclosing the settlement; “dot-like” anomalies which as it was supposed belonged to pottery kilns; “shadow-like” anomalies from the contours of possible unburnt constructions. There is a reason to consider ditch traces as remains of a palisade more than 4 km long, surrounding the ancient settlement. It is the first known find of such large-scale fortifications in Tripolye culture. In one place we explored the remains of a pottery kiln with three channels. Near it, there was a large pit in which we found numerous fragments of anthropomorphic statuettes. “Shadow-like” anomalies belonged to remains of buildings containing burnt clay installations, a small amount of baked plaster and numerous broken vessels. Given the fact that remains of typical burned buildings, a ‘mega-structure’ and various pits were excavated in previous seasons, today we have data on most types of objects identified on the territory of the settlement through a magnetic survey.
