The detailed analysis of all the traditionally chosen Scythian and Sarmatian features in Cherniakhov culture allows to divide them into several groups depending on their inform aliveness and significance.
Group 1 includes the features of burial rite and ceramic forms which undoubtedly have Scythian and Sarmatian origins and are widely enough spread in Cherniakhov culture: 1) Catacombs; 2) Graves with steps; 3) 4 types of handmade pots of Scythian and Sarmatian forms.
Perhaps some types of stone constructions pertain to group 1 (multi-chamber houses and building complexes of the type Kamenka-Anchekrac and graves with batters).
Group 2 includes the features of burial rite, which probably have Scythian and Sarmatian origins. However they are met in Cherniakhov culture in rare instances: 1) Obvious manifestation of fire worship in the graves with inhumation (scorched parts of wooden constructions and skeleton bonfire remains); 2) wooden constructions in graves (coffins, ceilings); 3) ram bones with a knife in the graves; 4) deformed skulls.
Group 3 includes features which have an indeterminate origin: 1) inhumation ceremony; 2) north¬ern orientation of corpses; 3) the custom of encircling of corpses with numerous vessels; 4) a small quantity of coal near the skeleton and in grave filling; 5) inhumation in supine position, on side with bent arms and legs; 6) some types of pottery (sharp-verged basins, biconic vessels with handles, jugs with a rounded body and a cylindrical neck); 7) abundance of beads in burial; lentil beads.
Only the features of the first group can serve as quite a reliable indication in examination of correlation problem of Cherniakhov culture and Scythian and Sarmatian antiquities of the first centuries A.D.
