During the cleaning of the remains of a pottery kiln, a complex with red-lacquer vessels was opened in 2014 on a longitudinal street near the Kruse Basilica in Chersonesos. By the nature of the red-lacquer ceramics, it is assumed that we have samples of local products (Chersonesos sigillata). The first group of vessels consists of two types of bowls: with a curved rim (Chersonese sigillate, type I) and with a vertically positioned rim (similar to type IV of the Chersonese sigillate). The second group of vessels is represented by five types of jugs of the 2nd—4th centuries. The first type of vessel is a complete profile. The second and fifth types are represented by necks. The accompanying material, fragmented amphorae (Zeest—84, 85 or Myrmekian type), defines the upper chronological boundary as no later than the beginning — middle of the fourth century. The dating of the red-lacquered kantharos from the layer overlying the well next to the furnace allows us to propose the upper chronological boundary of the complex (and the cessation of the furnace’s operation) no later than the end of the 3rd — beginning of the 4th centuries. Thanks to the analyzed finds, it is possible to add one new bowl shape to the list of the Chersonesos sigillata, two or three forms of pitchers. These materials complement the characteristics of the ceramic complex of Chersonesos in the Late Roman era and allow us to assert the continuity of its material culture and its commonality with the Pontic-Eastern Mediterranean world.
