The article is dedicated to the research history of the Crimean antiquities of Hellenistic-Roman time, and the first research attempts are dated by XVIII century. The article studies evolution of these research concepts in XIX-XX centuries, which became the most debatable problem in archaeology and ancient history and are known as problem of late Scythian culture and the Crimean Scythia.
Essential attention is paid to the modern state of the problem, its most debatable aspects, including those which concern study of some specific sources (pottery, architecture, sculpture, wall painting) and the sites in general.
