In the Middle Ages one can observe the phenomenon of “humanizing” of defensive structures. The article examines “humanized” fortifications of the Principality of Moldavia: the “Do not be afraid” Tower from the Court Fortress of Suceava, the “Black prison” Tower from the Neamţ Fortress, the “Maiden Tower” and the “Tower of Prince” from the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky Fortress etc. The author introduces the scientific circles to the “Bloody” and the “Maiden” Towers of the Kilia Fortress.
