Various opinions have been expressed about the genesis of the Dalma culture. Some researchers associate the genesis of this culture with the settlement of the Neolithic culture of Haji Firuz, located in northwestern Iran. Other researchers associated impressed ceramics of the Dalma Tepe culture with similar ceramics of Karabakh. However, the recently discovered settlement of Nakhchivan Tepe made it possible to express new opinions on the genesis and chronology of Dalma Tepe culture. A study of this settlement showed that impressed ceramics on the sites of Karabakh and Nakhchivan appeared in the Neolithic period. It turned out that such ceramics are more ancient than Dalma Tepe painted ceramics. It can be concluded that the genesis of the Dalma Tepe culture, and especially impressed ceramics, is genetically connected with the Nakhchivan and Mil-Karabakh sites.
