The paper is aimed at reconstruction of core splitting technologies practiced by population of a Mesolithic site at Girzhevo, Odessa oblast of Ukraine. The site was discovered by V. N. Stanko in 1961 and excavated by him and P. I. Boriskovsky in 1962–1964. The author dedicates this work to the memory of her teacher V. N. Stanko.
