A limited number of known Mesolithic sites in the Low Volga basin determine special interest to a new site found near the town of Florovo (Volgograd Oblast’). The site is situated on the left edge of the gorge of Panika (left tributary of the Don). A surface survey in early 80s there yielded 184 items of flint tools, including various scrapers, borers, a burin and a fragment of biface.
