This paper presents brief information about the data of the Neolithic and Eneolithic epochs of the southern forest-steppe Volga-Ural region according to its chronological sequence, the development of its basic ideas, and existing anthropological descriptions. Among them, there are well-known funerary sites of Syezzhee I, Khvalynsk I and II, Khlopkov Bugor, and recently discovered Ekaterinovsky Cape and Maksimovka I. Obtaining new factual sources and their comprehensive analysis using additional radiocarbon dates made it possible to enrich the ancient periods’ reference guide. This also made it possible to approach the solution of some archaeological problems and to form a general and more objective overview of the historical development of the population of the region.
Keywords: Volga-Ural region, forest-steppe zone, archaeological cultures, craniology, radiocarbon dates
