This article presents new discoveries of cheek-pieces and other products made of bone and horn, from excavations of tumuli in the Volga region near Saratov in 2005 and 2006. Use-wear analysis allowed us to find out the details of manufacture and use of various products. Peculiarity of the complexes uncovered is the presence of combined cheek-pieces: a wooden shield and parts (bushings, pins) of the horn. In one case, wooden boards, to some extent preserved, allowed reconstructing such cheek-pieces.
Keywords: bush, cheek-piece, shield, thorns, use-wear analysis.
