The article considers some key points of Goldstone-Nefedov-Turchin's verbal model, which explains the history of human societies as a chain of demographical cycles. The author does not agree that the great part of social crises in pre-industrial societies were caused by food resource's exhaustion. The case study was done for such social crises as Sung Empire's crises in China, which do not show any traces of food resource's exhaustion.
