The author considers the phenomenon of power in the Eneolithic and Bronze Age of the Near East and Europe. The study is based on the analysis of different manifestations of power in works of art, symbolic objects and burial rite. Several domains of power are distinguished in pre-state societies: moral, spiritual, economic and military. All domains are characterized by their own attributes and symbols. The study shows that the military power is the youngest one.
