In the given paper the author proposes an approach towards defining the specificity of Humanitarian sciences.The sphere of Humanitarian sciences is studied in a series of different contexts: scientific classification, models and binary opposition "explanation - interpretation".
The author is making an attempt to retrace the history of existing approaches towards Humanitarian sciences as a holistic phenomenon. Proceeding from the analysis of the most authoritative researches and ideas in the Sociology and Philosophy of Science, the author proposes a new foreshortening ofthe problems given. The notion of"two-" and"three-dimensional" sciences is introduced. In conclusion the author of the study suggests his personal vision on prognosis of development of Humanitarians's methodological approaches.
