Proverbs and sayings shape and reflect an "ethnic outlook", specific Weltanschauung of an individual ethnic group, therefore their study and comparative analysis is one of the priorities of the modern philology. The concept of "happiness" as a basic one in the outlook of any ethnic group determines its system of values. The specific features of the "happiness" concept in Russian and Moldovan proverbs and sayings comparatively described and explained is a rather hot issue in linguoculturology and ethnopsycholinguistics. The article contains a brief excursion into history of interpretation of the concept of "happiness". The researcher compares relevant semantic elements within lexical boundaries of the linguistic concept of "happiness" in the Russian and Moldovan languages. The results are shown in tables.
