This research is dedicated to the problem of connection between antireligious revolts and alternatives to adoption of Christianity. The wide spectrum of pagan uprisings in the European countries allows applying a comparative analysis and deducing their criteria by typology. It brought us to the conclusion that such events often have similar reasons and structure. Having applied these criteria to the anti¬Christian revolts in Ancient Russia we can see that the process of adoption of Christianity here was also complicated and diverse. The events monotonously depicted in the Russian annals were actually many-faceted. Such an intended simplification suggests new alternatives of adoption of Christianity in Ancient Russia.
