In the article the situation in such branch of economy of the Republic of Moldova as tourism is briefly described and the development of agro- and ecotourism is analyzed. Using data of the Department of Statistics and Sociology of RM, of the Department ofTourism Development of RM and gathered by telephone from tourist's agencies an attempt to analyze the tourism development in general and agro- and ecotourism in particular was made. As a result of this research the following conclusions were made: the political situation in the country has an influence upon annual number of tourists visiting Moldova; approving of legislation in this field has resulted in increasing of a number of tourist's agencies, opened in the country; a lot of possibilities, offered by countryside and picturesque places of Moldova, which are very popular with tourists, are not used by agencies.
