This paper is an attempt to elaborate an effective methodology for studying such cultural phenomenon as fashion. The idea of this research was inspired after a profound inquiry into quite an abundant literature dedicated to the all-round study of fashion. In the process of versatile historiographical analysis it became quite clear, that in spite of the fact that there is a weighty amount of heterogeneous researches in the humanitarian field, at least somewhat sharp categorial structure of terminological base as well as some general objective methodological directions to guide the researches through their study of fashion are absent. Using this convergent approach for studying the cultural phenomenon of Art Ducor made it possible to reveal and interpret a number of irregularities between non-material preferences (ideology) and their material objectification - that proves that the most popular and unfortunately dominating thesis that fashion has nothing to do with logics and appropriateness is not substantiated enough. Also it helped to contradict another popular opinion that the choice of fashionable samples is random and its mechanism cannot be described for it doesn't exist.
На сегодняшний день существует множество определений понятия «мода». Каждое из этих определений отражает определенный подход к изучению этого явления. Мода рассматривается как «процесс» (1), как «диалектика» (2), «феномен» (3), «явление» (4), «структура» (5) и т.д.
