This study is dedicated to the Slavic Gods and their «fonctions» in the Slavic paganism. Slavic paganism is traditionally divided into the superior pantheon and the inferior pantheon. This problem was studied by such scholars as E.V. Anichkov,V.V. Ivanov,V.N. Toporov, N.N. Tolstoi, E.E. Levkievskaia and others. The problem ofthe «functions» ofthe Slavic Gods and the tendency ofthe spreading ofthe «functions» was not the single-minded subject ofthe research. The main goal of this paper is not only to reconstruct some separated «functions», but also the tendency of development and spreading of God's «functions».The general objectives were: to collect information about the Gods and their «functions», to group the «functions» into blocs, to build tables of the superior and the inferior pantheons, to analyze the God's «functions» and to interpret the results. The author used written and ethnographic records, and the works by researchers, who dealt with the reconstruction.
In the process ofthe research the author came to the following conclusion: firstly, such Gods as Perun,Veles and Mokosh are the borrowed characters, they are not original Slavic Gods. Secondly, the military type of power set artificially for the eastern Slavs, but for the western Slavs it developed naturally. Thirdly, in the area of fertility, agriculture, cattle-breading the Slavic Gods had the reconstruction of these functions.
