The article provides new evidence for the interpretation of the famous inscription IOSPE I² 403 as a fragment of the land cadastre or a list of the land plots of citizens of Tauric Chersonesos on the Herakleian Peninsula in the beginning of the 3rd century BC. This result is based on a new reading of the numeric characters in the inscription and comparing the resulting values with the real plots in the chora. Analysis of the two general sums of areas in the inscription gives additional data for reinforcing the hypothesis of the grouping of citizens of Chersonesos at an early stage into four hekatossias (hundreds) — military economic units similar to those existing in the metropolis of Chersonesos, Herakleia Pontica.

Keywords: Tauric Chersonesos, inscription IOSPE I² 403, cadaster, system of land division, hekatorugos, aroura, aerial photos, hekatossias (hundreds)
