The innovative technology of three-fold welding (the Scandinavian variant) was adopted by the Ancient Rus’ craſtsmen, and was performed with certain deviations from the classic models (the East European variant). The analysis of correlation between the Scandinavian and the East European variants on the materials from different regions of Northern Rus’ gives grounds to establish the chronology of introduction of the new technology, and the character of its spreading.
