In this article the author tries to attract attention to the third - sacral image of the Russian kniaz Sviatoslav as opposed of two other images «viking» and «ruler» described in scientific researches. The author touches upon a question of the role played by this ruler in Ancient Rus' society, shows resemblances ofthe authority structure in the eastern and northern neighbors of Kievan Rus - Khazaria and Scandinavia, using wide set of written sources.
